Ms MEKGWE

The founding Executive Director, Kgomotso Mekgwe is an admitted attorney with experience of 15 years as a practicing attorney which gives her a vast experience, broad legal network, and excellent record in the legal space.

Ms Mekgwe studied LLB at the University of Pretoria and graduated in 2008, attended law school and served her articles between 2009 and 2010, where she received the “The Dean’s Award, due to her hard work and diligence.

In 2010 Ms Mekgwe worked for one of the established and renowned firm in Tshwane, where she gained her exposure and experience of the legal fraternity, and confidence to open a law firm with a colleague in the profession. In 2017 Ms Mekgwe became the sole director of the firm Maphokga & Associates Inc to date and poached different professionals to join in growing the services and capacity of the firm.

As a sole director in this challenging economy, Ms Mekgwe managed to drive the firm, and keep it stable and sustainable to date, even during the difficult period of Covid-19 lock down, the firm continued to secure the mandates and attended to them on behalf of clients, to avoid legal lapses and other timebound actions that had to be achieved by the firm on behalf of clients.

During her 14 years in the legal fraternity, Ms Mekgwe, attended various courses and seminars to develop herself academically to keep abreast with the fast moving, vastly growing and changing legal fraternity.

As a driven woman, she took membership of Independent Directors of South Africa and joined as a member of Pension Lawyers Associates to date and Compliance Institute South Africa, to acquire best practices with the colleagues in the fraternity, accumulate and share experiences in the field to grow more and stay relevant in corporate and commercial law fields, which are the strongest areas of focus of the firm.

Ms Mekgwe is an intelligent and self- driven professional and innovative woman, who is a visionary with dreams and aspirations to grow and develop her career at the same time growing the firm and keeping it stable, sustainable, and consistent.

Under her wing she worked with various young and upcoming professionals, who sought legal exposure and experience of practice. She opens the doors to the practice where possible to provide those who are disadvantaged to access legal practice for career benefit and so forth.

Ms Mekgwe ensures management and professional handling of all account/clients affiliated to the firm, and to this far, all relationships with clients are stable and consistent. The firm complies fully with audit processes and tax regulations.

Ms Mekgwe had the opportunities to work with Telkom accounts in her previous firm, were she was leading the team with all litigation matters and complaints to ICASA, under the supervision of the lead director. She manages all accounts and mandates given to the firm, delegates to a competent team ensuring diligent services. Her knowledge and demand of services, such as Pension law, litigation, Contract law, Corporate and commercial law encouraged her to grow M&A legal team, for excellent quality legal services.

In its growth path, the M&A Inc expanded its services by opening and introducing the department of Conveyancing and Notary. This department is led by a senior Associate Mr Mahlubandile Radebe, who is an esteemed veteran conveyancer and notary.

Mr Radebe

 is a graduate of the National University of Lesotho, University of Zimbabwe and Rand Afrikaans University where he attained BA Political Science and History, BL (Hons), LLB and LLM respectively.

He was admitted as an Attorney, Conveyancer and Notary Public by the North Gauteng High Court in 1995. He has worked as Public Prosecutor in Zimbabwe and legal advisor to the ANC Department of Intelligence where he was responsible for negotiating, drafting legislation and regulations, and lobbying members of parliament on policies pertaining to the establishment of a new intelligence service dispensation.

In 1995 Mr Radebe joined the South African Secret Services as a Head of Legal Services with the responsibility to provide strategic leadership and planning, develop and draft policy documents, legislation, and regulations.

He participated in drafting of intelligence provisions of the Constitution and other contractual obligations of the department.

Over the years Mr Radebe has been appointed as a consultant, legal advisor, and executive at several institutions including, but not limited to, SITA, SASSA, and the State Security Agency.

Throughout his entire career he served at executive level, including Board and Audit Committee representations at these afore-mentioned institutions.

Mr Radebe has extensive legal, commercial and contract law knowledge, ICT industry and its governance. He has negotiated the drafting of legal instruments related to the business, and has negotiated and drafted various international contracts on infrastructure projects, he has vast experience in legislative drafting, drafting of commercial contracts, regulations, policy documents, forensic investigations, and an excellent exposure in risk management.

Mr Radebe specialises in commercial, company, civil litigation, conveyancing and notarial practices.

Ms. Belitha Baloyi

Ms. Belitha Baloyi joined the firm as a Candidate Attorney and has since progressed to her current role as a Junior Associate. She brings with her a wealth of experience gained from her tenure at the Road Accident Fund, where she served in multiple capacities, including Administrator, Claims Handler, and later as a Senior Learning and Development Specialist.
In her role at the Road Accident Fund, Ms. Baloyi was responsible for conducting training needs analyses, implementing skills development programmes, and leading research and benchmarking initiatives aimed at enhancing organisational performance and service delivery.
Ms. Baloyi holds a Bachelor of Laws (BLC) degree from the University of Pretoria (1998) and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of South Africa (2013). She further strengthened her professional capabilities by completing a Management Development Programme at the University of Stellenbosch in 2015. In 2024, she obtained her Master of Laws (LLM) from the University of South Africa.
She is an admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa and is committed to delivering high-quality legal services with diligence, professionalism, and a client-focused approach.

Ms Ntweleng Baloyi

The firm was joined by Ms. Belitha Baloyi as a Candidate Attorney. Ms. Baloyi previously worked at the Road Accident Fund, first as an Administrator and then as a Claims Handler. She was later appointed as a Senior Learning and Development Specialist at the Road Accident Fund, where her responsibilities included conducting training needs analyses, implementing skills development programs, and undertaking research and benchmarking initiatives.

Ms. Baloyi obtained her BLC from the University of Pretoria in 1998 and subsequently completed her LLB at the University of South Africa in 2013. She further enhanced her expertise by completing a Management Development Programme at the University of Stellenbosch in 2015. She is currently pursuing her LLM at the University of South Africa.

Ms. Baloyi is an admitted Attorney of the High Court and currently serves as a Junior Associate at Maphokga & Associates.

Ravhura Merriam Mosusumedi – Candidate Attorney

Ms. Ravhura Merriam Mosusumedi joined the Firm in April 2026 as a Candidate Attorney.

She holds an LLB degree as well as a Practical Legal Training Certificate. She possesses experience in legal drafting, legal research, and the preparation of legal opinions.

Prior to joining the Firm, she served as a Legal Intern at the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, where she gained valuable exposure to legal processes within the public sector.

She is a diligent and committed legal professional who demonstrates a strong work ethic and a keen willingness to learn, and is dedicated to her continued professional development within the legal fraternity.

Ms Boitumelo Ledwaba

has been a legal secretary to various law firms, and she continues to develop and grow her knowledge as a legal secretary and office manager.

Ms Ledwaba joined M&A Inc in 2017 where she worked closely with Ms Mekgwe as a legal secretary and office manager. She possesses a certificate as a legal secretary.

Ms Ledwaba ensures the day to day running of the firm and liaising with clients and colleagues within the fraternity.

Ms Thembi Mahlwela

joined the firm in 2017 as a receptionist being in a possession of administration certificates where she is responsible for the administration department of the firm. Thembi is responsible for the administration and management of the office. Assisting with communication with clients, ensuring client satisfaction.

 

The firm has joined forces external legal costs consultant, who provides legal costs services for the firm, advising on necessary tariffs, assisting on taxation of bills for clients and the firm.

 

Our costs consultant Tebogo Marumagae, has more than 15 years of experience in legal costs consulting, drafting of bill and taxation of bills, in respect of Magistrate Court, High Court, Superior courts. Tebogo, attends to all taxations in court personally and negotiates, settling the bills with third parties.

 

The Firm provides its employees with opportunities to grow and further their studies, and financially funding them to achieve those gaols. It is the wish of the director for the firm to employ more people who will not only become just employees but contribute to the growth of the firm and their own growth and development, contributing to the broader job creation programme for the youth of the country.
